I Came to Realize

This morning, I was glad to see,
The sunshine coming through.
This morning I just happened to be,
Excited to see you.

And then we sat and talked a while,
I came to realize.
It wasn’t what I thought it was,
I saw it in your eyes.

At noon I was thinking of,
All the times we’d had.

I started just to see.
It wasn’t what I thought it was,
Could it really be?

This evening I just sat alone,
Watching stars come out.
I think a tear trickled down,
Thinking what we talked about.

After we had talked awhile,
I came to realize.
It hadn’t been what I thought,
There was distance in your eyes.

The time spend with you,
Meant more to me than I’d thought.
But then we talked.
We shared.
We parted.
You told my heart goodbye.
